Do you ever feel like you have run out of ideas? Let the forum inspire you.

Please join us this month to discuss and share ideas that you have had for lessons as well as lessons that you have implemented in your ceramics programs. Consider bringing in an example of a teacher’s and/or student’s artwork, lesson plans and outgrowths of your ideas. Feel free to bring the lessons that have puzzled you, did not quite work out -but you still feel can be turned around into a successful learning experience. You might be at the very beginning of an idea-please share it with us and use the forum for ideas.

We will discuss where creativity begins. Where do you get your ideas for lessons? How do your students influence your ideas? How do your lessons promote creativity within your teaching guidelines.

Please pass this information to others who you know will benefit from attending. Let us know if you can join us by emailing mail@clayartcenter.org or call us at 914.937.2047. We hope to see you there!

Report Back

We had a wonderful night of sharing. We talked about All Fired Up! and discussed the many educational opportunities available as a part of this collaboration. Jennifer Schroth from Westchester Arts Council gave us a demo of the All Fired Up! K-12 Ceramic Educators Wiki Page. Each teacher shared examples of projects and student work. We were able to address questions and share ideas about teaching ceramics. We even talked about dealing with "clay disasters" such as shivering and crawling. Some of the questions addressed were: What are some successful ways to teach slab rolling to pre-k - second graders? What are some ways to incorporate fused glass into clay projects? How can teachers teach glazing techniques successfully?

Tracy Gilman of Harrison High School and Grace Fraoli of New Rochelle High School presented the All Fired Up! K-12 Exhibition Criteria.
